about
The first single from the debut album. It’s a high-octane, punk-inspired anthem, telling a tale anticipation and hope. I think this was the first song I worked on with my ex-band mate, Russ Scagell. The story is told through an awkward, movie-like bar scene, and touches on the subject of courage, but also fear. The, 'should I, shouldn't I' scenario that we all know too well. I think society paints a very distorted picture of normality, and it’s very easy to feel mediocre when you compare yourself to an unrealistic image. Everyone is perfect in their own way, you just have to belief in yourself and go for it.
lyrics
VERSE 1:
She makes out I’m uncomfortable
Without saying a single word
It’s in the eyes, it’s in the eyes
They’re telling lies, they’re telling lies
I don’t know what direction we’re gonna go from here
VERSE 2:
I loosen up but my hands are tied
And I can’t keep up with you
I’ve gotta say, I’ve gotta say
Let’s getaway, let’s getaway
Something’s gotta give out, before I lose my mind
VERSE 3:
She looks out like I know her name
And stands up like she knows mine
I wanna see, I wanna see
You’re telling me, you’re telling me
I hold back cause I’m feeling like I’ll just waste your time, I’ll waste your time, I’ll waste your time, I’ll waste your time
CHORUS:
It’s all in my imagination
I can’t control the situation
I suffer in anticipation
Cause I’m not part of this relation
VERSE 4:
I hate this is a chance away
But I’m gonna see it through
I’m out of luck, I’m out of luck
Don’t give a fuck, don’t give a fuck
Here goes nothing, I don’t want anything left behind, left behind, left behind
VERSE 5:
We make out, it’s uncomfortable
We’re not saying a single word
It’s in the eyes, it’s in the eyes
They’re telling lies, they’re telling lies
I don’t know where we’re gonna go from here
